This classic design from Panerai features a 45x50mm stainless steel case with a smooth stainless bezel, a black dial with arabic numerals, sapphire glass, hand-wound mechanical movement with a power reserve of 56 hours, water resistant to 100m presented on a brown leather strap. The Radiomir collection is named after the distinctive luminescent compound Panerai developed when it sold watches to the Italian Navy in the 1930s. The ability to tell time in murky waters was essential for Frogmen. This PAM 183 from the 'Historic' collection features fantastic quality lume for the numerals and indices on the lower layer of the famous sandwich dial. The dial is signed ‘Black Seal’ - a reference to the WWII torpedoes used by the Frogmen. Modern Radiomirs now have the ‘sausage’ dial the classic 00183 has the gorgeous and sought-after ‘sandwich’ dial. Purchased new in 2006 this watch and comes with Panerai box and authenticity papers, manuals, a 1 year Watches of Wales warranty and we also provide a complimentary insurance valuation certificate with the sale.
